Volunteering has played a key role in the story of the Himalayan Trust. However, we no longer run a volunteer programme. While we strongly believe in the value of volunteering, we try wherever possible to use the skills, experience and talent of local people in the communities.
Volunteer Services Abroad (VSA) NZ are New Zealand’s largest and most experienced volunteer agency working in international development. Sir Ed was the founding President of VSA NZ and believed passionately that if people work together in equal partnership they can achieve great things. If you are keen to use your skills and experience as a volunteer, you should get in touch with VSA NZ today.
Our local partner REED (Rural Education and Environment Development Centre) does however run teacher training programmes. You can find out more and contact REED-Nepal through their website.
Below is a list of agencies as listed in the Lonely Planet Guide that offer volunteer opportunities throughout Nepal:
A regular donation to the Himalayan Trust will provide long-term, sustainable solutions to bring education and opportunities to remote communities for many years to come. You can help continue Sir Ed’s life-changing work in the Everest region of Nepal.
