New Bupsa water system completed

The new water system in Bupsa is complete! Bubsa is a village on the Everest trail a day’s walk south of Lukla, accessible only on foot. The small springs and streams on the forest-covered mountains nearby aren’t easily accessible, so Bupsa needed an engineered pipeline from a high source to deliver water to the village houses, lodges and vegetable patches.

Our sincere and heartfelt thanks to our friends at Land Rover New Zealand who generously funded this project with proceeds from the Sir Edmund Hillary Edition Discovery. Thank you also to our partners at Action for Nepal who managed the construction of the new system.

The people of Bupsa now have access to pure drinking water, water for hand-washing and general hygiene (especially needed now due to COVID-19), fire hydrants and flush toilets. The water will also be used for growing food in the dry season and supporting livelihoods via tourism when visitors return to the region.

Nothing is more important to the health and well-being of communities than safe, clean water. On behalf of the people of Bupsa, thank you to everyone who made this water project possible.
